A Love Letter to Jerri

Dearest Jerri: From August 10,1957 until today I owe my life of happiness to you. When we met I was pumping gas at a Standard Station in Redlands California and you were a City Editor for the Colton Currier and going to Graduate School at the University of Redlands to get your teaching credential. I was still recovering from being asked to leave San Bernardino Junior College for poor grades. I can't think of anyone else ever being asked to leave a JC for poor grades. We met on a Blind date the first of March and after four dates I proposed to you March 11,1957 behind the University of Redlands during your lunch break in a field that had the Greenest grass in memory. You and I picked out the rings at Hinermans Jewelers and I gave you your engagement ring on your Birthday the 27 of March 1957. That was only 46 years ago, but it is only yesterday. It is amazing how one simple sentence "Will you Marry Me" can have such a profound affect on a persons future. You literally educated me helped me get my BS & Ma degrees and at the same time had a career as a teacher and Administrator while rearing our two beautiful sons Robert and Rick. Your patience and support for me while I was elementary, Jr. High School and High School principal made our marriage stay together. Your unbending LOVE of Us and your forgiveness of my errors has brought us to the Best Years of Our Lives. Enjoying our children and their families is the Ultimate Reward for our Love through the years. You are Me and I am You. Thank you for creating this Beautiful memory with Me.

Love Now and Always, Bob

February

I love you on this February day
in a year which we're together.
And as each seagull flies higher
into the chalky misted sky
And as each tiny raindrop lands
onto the soggy muddy ground
I think I love you,
And love you more
    On this February Day.

My Darling (September)

The world is awakening to the beckoning
   calls of dawn.
The sounds of silence are disappearing
behind the meadow larks sweet chirping.
The milk in my breasts
is awaiting our child's hungry cries.
The awakening of life is so beautiful.
I love you as I love the dawn
    of each new day.

PHIL SHANE

DARK HAIR AND DEEP GREEN EYES
HAD ALL THE WOMEN MESMERIZED
AND WHEN HE RAISED THE MIC TO HIS LIPS
THE ENERGY SPIRALED DOWN TO HIS HIPS

I SENT A MESSAGE TO AN ANGEL ONE DAY
I ASKED FOR HIS HAND IF THAT WAS OK

THE SHOOTING STAR THAT STREAKED THROUGH THE SKY

WAS MORE THAN AN OMEN THAT HE’D SOON BE MINE

ONE NIGHT THE SINGER WAS SINGING A SONG
I WAS DRAWN TO THE STAGE AND KNEW HE’D BELONG
TO ME
HIS SONG BECKONED AS I MOVED CLOSER STILL
TO GET A GOOD VIEW OF THE MAN WHO GAVE CHILLS
TO ME
THE ROOM GOT CLOUDY THE VOICES GREW DIM
ALL I COULD HEAR WAS THE SONG FROM HIM
TO ME

THE HANDSOME MAN WITH THE VELVETY VOICE
COULD EASILY HAVE THE GIRL OF HIS CHOICE
BUT FATE STEPPED IN AND LENT A HAND
HE FELL IN LOVE
AND GAVE THE GOLD BAND
TO ME

MICHLENE
