Welcome to the Game page!

To review past games, go to Game History.

Here's your chance to get to know your cousins and your ancestors before the reunion and to have fun competing against your cousins.  Games will be held on a weekly basis.  Each week, the winners from the previous week will be announced. Winners will be announced at the reunion and prizes will be awarded.  If the weekly games get to be too much, let me know and we'll start overlapping the games over a two week span.  ENJOY!

Rules

You may ask other members of your family.  This means you can ask your parents, your brothers and sisters, and if married, your children.  You cannot ask any aunts, uncles, cousins, or anyone else, otherwise, you will be disqualified.  You also cannot comb the gravesites, research birth/death certificates, research the web, etc.  In other words, no research.  As for the Chatigny family, I am disqualified from the game because I have to know the answers.

Game 12

Who gave the most showers (engagement, wedding, baby, 25th anniversary) and helped with countless others?  This person was also very creative and artistic on each shower, as witnessed in the top left and top right pictures on this page, as well as the creative cakes.  No two showers were the same.  2 points

Song hints: Songs have something to do with marriage or babies.

Game hints: The year that the most descendants of J.E. Colthurst were born was in the late 70’s.  Talk to the mom’s who had children then.  They will know.  Another helpful hint is to go to the ‘Pictures that Need ID page’ and check out those reunion photographs.  These are 1988 photos.  There are more reunion photos under the Photo Albums.  Feel free to check them out too.

Submit your answers to szazzi@jecolthurstfamily.com .  Subject should be 'Game n' where n is the game number.  Example: 'Game 1'.

Note: Game answers can be on the website under 'Genealogy'.  The games will periodically contain questions on information already posted.  So, start combing the website, regardless if a page is under construction or not.  New material is constantly being added.  You can also check What's New because it just may have what you are looking for.

Answers:

1. Who are/were members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)1?  Margaret (Peggy) Colthurst Chatigny (photo below) and Pat Colthurst.  Peggy traced her mother's family line, the Almy's, back to the Mayflower and Pat traced her side of the family back to the Mayflower.  They both joined the DAR within a year of each other and visited frequently while they were both working on their genealogy.

2. Who spent the last 10 years of their life actively working on genealogy and traveled around the world to perform their research?  Margaret (Peggy) Colthurst Chatigny  Peggy spent about 10 years of her life tracing her family line on her Mother's side, the Almy family, back to the Mayflower.  She not only had her direct line, but many other lines as well.  On her many excursions across the country, she met relatives who could still share information with her about their families.  Her work and their stories all connected to make one cohesive story.  Peggy also spent about 2 years tracing her family line on her Father's side, Colthurst.  This took the Chatigny's to Europe and traipsing through cow pastures to view graveyards, and dark musty library cellars to do her research.  Note: On most trips, Peggy was accompanied by her husband, Mark Chatigny, who not only was a companion, a photographer, but also a helping hand and spent many hours helping her with her research.
