AND THEN RICK CAME ALONG

They were young in those early days of Romance. They both asked the same questions. Who will be that special one for me? Is there a special person to fill my life? Where will I meet him? When will I see that special person?  Then Rick Came along.

He was busy with his career and she tended the fires at home.  They stayed busy. What about a home? Will there be enough money? Will we be able to afford children?  And along came Jason and Gillian.

Then Rick came along and advanced through the officer ranks with the final Rank of Commander prior to end of his military career.  The years rushed by and time blended into Retirement from the Navy.  Once again, the questions came. What do we do in a civilian world? Will we have a place for the kids? Will the children get an education?

Then Rick came along and joined the INRI Firm in Washington D.C.

It seems like our whole lives are full of questions with answers turning into new Questions. As we get older the list of questions gets longer. Maybe we need to think a little more about how WE  are the answers. We are so busy trying to prove ourselves that we do not even know who we are. Rick had so many of the answers but like the rest of us he always asked the Questions of life.

Yet Rick was life and in many cases bigger that life.

A room or party was never the same after he entered.  I am sure Rick’s co-workers knew that he was a leader committed to his profession and their success.  He was very tolerant and a true example of how we should work together in society and in the work place.

The other side of questions was opened when Rick came along.  Each of us reaches that point in life when we look to our family as our source of pride and joy. Darby, his grandson, opened new vistas of life that Rick was just beginning to see.  I heard so many good things about Rick’s family during his last visit to California.  Instead of asking questions, Rick was hearing his own answers about love and family.

Then God came along and said “Rick I Love You. Come away and talk with me about family and Love.” Then Rick smiled and came along.
