bulletWallace Richardson Vincent Michael (Rick) Colthurst, born 15 Jul 1941 in San Francisco, CA, at the University of CA Hospital.   Rick is the son of Wallace Richardson Vincent Bernard (Wally) Colthurst and Marjorie Bracken Doran. Died 11 Aug 2001 from an acute coronary insufficiency.  Rick's memorial from the J. E. Colthurst family.

Rick received Catholic baptism in 1941 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Oakland, California and his first Holy Communion was on May 15, 1949 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Oakland, CA.  He was confirmed in the Catholic Church on February 25, 1954, at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Oakland, California.

Rich graduated from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland in 1958.  He then attended Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, CA and graduated in June 1963 with a B.A. in Political Science.  He spent 24 years in the United States Navy and retired at the rank of Commander in 1986.  He served 13 months in Vietnam, where he commanded a gasoline/oiler and received the Bronze Star.  He is a graduate of the Naval War College.  He began working for the International Research Institute in 1986 and was instrumental in developing the Department of Defense Global Command and Control Systems.  He was also involved in the development and design of the US Navy's 21st Century Destroyer.

Rick was a huge baseball fan and also enjoyed golf, tennis, cycling, kayaking.  He loved to red and to buy gadgets.  Patricia writes of him that he was optimistic, had a good sense of humor and was giving and loyal.

In 2000, Rick was working out of Newport News in support of the Combat System Interface project, linking the systems he designed with Cruiser/Aircraft Carrier Combat Command and Control Systems.

Rick died on Saturday, Aug 11, 2001 at the age of 60 from a sudden heart attack.  Rick is buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.
bulletPatricia Ann Elizabeth (Pat) (Cox) Colthurst born 27 Apr 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas at the Harris Hospital.

Patricia was baptized November 10, 1946 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Bobtown, Pennsylvania.  Her first Holy Communion was at Holy Trinity Catholic church in Norfolk, Virginia, on October 25, 1953.  She was confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic church on May 19, 1958.

Patricia graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in May 1996, with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and received the Academic Achievement Award.

Patricia's work experience includes 16 years as School Administrator at a local beauty school and presently she is employed in the Administrative Office of her Alma Mater, Virginia Wesleyan College.  She also works part time at Barnes and Noble.  She loves books and loves to travel and see new places.  Another of her favorite things to do is to attend classes and learn new things, especially things like nutrition and health.  For fun, she collects frogs.

Patricia, a descendant of Curd Cox, belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).


bulletJason Lewis Patrick Kevin (Jason) Colthurst born 21 Aug 1974 in Portsmouth, Virginia at the Naval Regional Medical Center.

Jason was baptized Sept 24, 1974 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Norfolk, VA and confirmed on April 14, 1991 at Saint Gregory The Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina in December of 1997.  His work interest is in building wooden boats at various boat yards.

Jason enjoys travel and sailing and would like to some day live on a boat.

Jason married Dorcas ______ on ______ in _______ at _______.  They currently live in _______ and have one child, Darby Ash Colthurst.
bulletGillian Rosanne Felicity (Gillian) Colthurst born 17 Mar 1978 in Oakland, CA at the Naval Regional Medical Center.

Gillian was baptized May 5, 1978 at Holy Trinity Catholic church in Norfolk, VA and confirmed on April 18, 1995 at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  She graduated from Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach, Virginia in December 2000 with an Associates Degree in Science.  Her mother, Patricia, writes of her that she is a rebel with a big heart, looking for her place in the world.

In 2000, Gillian was employed in a supervisory and monitoring position with Eastern Research Services, Inc., which is a market research firm.

Rick and Pat were married _____ in ______ at __________.  They currently live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
