Happy 75th Birthday, Bev.
We love you! And
may you have many more wonderful years of happiness with your wonderful
family. With
Love, from the
J.E. Colthurst family

Dear sister.
Remember the sunny days of
summer at the Russian River? Those days of our youth seem like
only yesterday, not sixty years ago.
It
must of been because all my memories of you are so fresh in my mind.
You looked out for me or at least mother would always
tell you "Look out for Bobby" The night
walks up to Rio Nito to see some Big Band Glenn Miller
or Arti Shaw and other names I have forgotten. But those pitch dark
nights through Old Man Drakes Cherry Orchard still send tingles down
my back. It wasn't the orchard as much as those dam
ghost/horror stories you would tell while we
creeped along the river. To this day I wonder if there
was ever an Old Man Drake with a salt shot gun. I hope so because
it sure made an impression on my young mind. I remember
the day that your canoe, 'Damit' < it fell on
your toe. How sad and painful. When our brother Jackie
died, everyone was so full of grief that no one had time to help me
wipe away the tears except for a wonderful sister named Beverly who
came into the room I shared with Jackie and held me in
her arms and rocked me to sleep on that very empty
night. The trip in the Lincoln with you and mother
to Marysville. When the car conked out about midnight you and
mother put dad's hat on me and tried to make me look like a man ( I
was ten) you were pregnant and we worried that you might
go into labor. The sun came up and all was
well. No car phone back in those days. Learning
to shoot Ed's single shot .22 Rifle up at Tahoe in a meadow called
Squaw Valley. Cleaning up after your Halloween Party on Oakland Ave
that had more whiskey bottles behind the Corn stalks than Buds on
Piedmont Ave. Those were the days that our heroes came
back from WWll and you made one of them a B-17
Pilot your special man for life. You and I going
to church with the kids while Ed and Jerri stayed home and drank BLOODY
MARYS. Sitting in our back yard in Long Beach watching Ed look for
a Patch of Blue. A night in Dallas getting a chance to
say hello. The trip on our Boat around the San
Juans in Washington with our nightly cocktails and
tails about the days trip or walking around the Islands finding
places to eat and Drink. Dinner at Eagles Landing with your beautiful
granddaughter Jenn. I think it seems like yesterday because I have
been so very lucky to share so many Happy days with you and your wonderful
Family. Because of OUR LOVE our children know and Love each other!!
A Very Big 75th Birthday for all those Special Days that have made
up our live and your 75 years of happiness you me and my
family.
Love ALWAYS
Your Brother Bob

| My Dearest
Grandmother,
You have taught me so much in these past
twenty-one years. You taught me how to read. Some of my earliest
memories are of sitting with you at your kitchen counter, working on
phonics. The gift of reading has made books and imagination central in
my life. You taught me about religion. When I did not grasp to it
immediately, you were patient with me. You let me philosophize. You
let me question. And when the time was right, you helped me to
understand. You taught me the importance of family. I will always
remember the Easter egg hunts in your backyard. I will never forget
the ritual of decorating Grandma and Grandpa´s Christmas tree every
year. All the cousins together for a day of decorating, caroling and
fun!
You also taught me
so much, when you probably did not even know that you were teaching
me. Love, patience, understanding, respect... You taught me the
importance of being a teacher. My friends, who you had in your class,
still speak of you as the teacher who ¨made the impact.¨ I only hope
that I can follow in your footsteps. Most importantly, you taught me
to value life. To enjoy and cherish each and every moment.
This past summer,
our relationship grew in a way it had never been before. I was
suddenly a grown up. I had to endure tasks that I had never had to
endure before...like cooking. When I decided to learn how to cook, you
ate. You always had a positive comment, no matter how awful that food
must have been. I looked foreword to going home at cocktail hour and
having a drink with my grandma. World issue, my future and most
importantly, boys, became the topics of our conversations. You played
the devil's advocate for me, but always supported me in my decisions.
And while I am still struggling with world issues, what the heck I am
going to do with my life, and Mom´s never-ending question ¨When are
you going to find a man?¨, I know that my grandma is there to guide
and support me.
Grandma, I am so
sorry that I can not be there for your special day. You are a powerful
and amazing woman, who I am lucky to call my grandmother and my
friend. Happy Birthday! I love you!
Love,
Meg

Happy
75th, Aunt Bev!
May this birthday be an extra special one for you because you have been
extra special throughout my life, as well as my brothers and sisters.
We thank you for all those wonderful years of family reunions, as well
as your kind and very thoughtful letters and notes that you have sent to
our family, especially during times of tragedy. They have given
our family strength and soothed our souls. And thank you for your
words of wisdom last month to help me deal with my Father on a much
better note than I had been. You took it upon yourself to call and
help me. You enlightened me greatly. Here's a big kiss and a
big hug. Thank you to one of the nicest and dearest aunts!
With Love,

Dear
Bev,
Sharing all the times together with you was
always a treat. From the showers
to the fun parties at Rita's, Mom's, Pat's and your home, it was always
a good time. You had a special quality to diffuse any family friction
in your calm manner. You always had something nice to say about everyone.
It was a treat to watch you and Pat laugh together. You always had
so much fun. I especially enjoyed our visit to the Napa Valley with Pat
and you. We all
shared a special time that day.
Thanks for all the caring, love, and concern
for all of the family. We all
wish you the very
best and are so happy that you are part of our lives.
From our family to you HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Love, Monique

Birthday Wish
Something to remember
Happy 75th birthday
You were at my wedding in 1945 and for the life of me, all that I can
recall is that you and Peggy made lovely cousins. I was at your
wedding in 1947 and after a wonderful party, I drove my bride home in
the 1931 Oldsmobile from the reception, feeling no pain. While
driving, went through the gas station and couldn't see the stop sign at
Lakeshore Blvd. Lots of high points over the years! Parties
at your house growing up and older. You and I are the lucky
ones. We've lost our partners, we've seen it all with a marvelous
family around us. Lots of luck to you Bev. I'm not sure of
our destinations, but it has been a wonderful trip of which you played a
large part.

Happy
Birthday, Bev!
You are a special woman to have touched so many people in such a
positive way. I haven't had much contact with you over the years,
but know that when your name comes up among family members the stories
are always delightful. It is with that thought in mind that we
celebrate another year of
YOU! All
who come in contact with you are blessed. Thank you! and
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!!

Happy
Birthday to our dear Aunt Bev. We have enjoyed many days with you and
your family. Growing up I can remember John and I playing endlessly
while all the adults sat around the pool. You have made so many family
reunions a wonderful memory. Thank you for helping to make a childhood
with cousins such
fun!
We wish you a very Happy 75th Birthday!

Happiest 75th
birthday from your San Diego cousins! We've fond memories
of the 1976 Colthurst reunion we attended at your Napa
home way back when we were all younger. Both you
and the USA were celebrating important milestone
birthdays that time. We anticipate creating many more
fond memories when we gather together on September 22, 2001.
Warmest wishes from Alice, Tom, and Irené

Dear Aunt
Beverly,
Warm Birthday Wishes from the Frehners.
Thank you for the wonderful
reunions
we had in Napa when we were kids. Those were fun times! Never a dull
moment when there are a few Colthursts around! I
especially remember the 1976 reunion when Ed and
Kerry's St. Bernard got into the "pond" Uncle Ed had worked
so hard to make with tarps, and water, and ivy decorations. What fun
for the dog and the kids! Thank you for the memories and
I look forward to creating new ones with my
children.
Love,
Kathleen, Bernard, John Paul, Lawrence, and George |
Happy
75th Birthday Beverly!
I have very clear pictures in my mind of the reunion in Napa in 1976.
Jason was just a toddler then and a great traveler - Rick and I had a
great time showing him off to the extended Colthurst family. Rick was so
looking forward to this reunion and the opportunity to help you
celebrate your birthday. I will be there by myself instead, but I can
tell you that Rick's spirit will be there among the family members. I am
so happy that I am going to be able to see you and the rest of the
family at this particular time in my life. I will see you very soon and
we will catch up and do a bang up job of celebrating your birthday!
Love,
Rick, Patricia, Jason and Dorcas and Darby, and Gillian |
Happy
75th Aunt Beverly.
Boy does time fly. It doesn't seem very long ago that I was heading off
to mass with you to see the "miracles" first hand or sitting
on the back of Father Van's motorcycle. I had plenty of these great
memories growing up. You've also made it a point to come visit when each
of our children was born. You've always our trips to Napa special. You
and my Dad place the love of family above all else. I've learned a lot
from both of you. We really love you Aunt Bev. We look forward to
spending lots more quality time with you and your family. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Dear
Aunt Beverly,
Wishing you many blessings on your birthday!
I enjoyed our visit last April, especially discussing theology and
faith! You have taken your baptismal promises seriously by the way
you have lived - your life with Ed, your children and grandchildren, and
service to others with your chaplain ministry! You are very dear and
special to our family and it is a blessing to be able to celebrate your
birthday and to celebrate family all on one day!!!
Happy Birthday,
Love, John & Victoria

Dearest
Aunt Beverly,
Happy 75th Birthday. We look forward to spending a wonderful
weekend with you to help you celebrate. You have been such an
inspirational part of my life both in a spiritual sense and as a great
role model. We have had so much fun with your family. I have
great memories of hanging out with you and Uncle Ed in the back yard
playing with the juke box, swimming, and listening to Downtown. There
were a lot of great memories that I think about all the time. The
last time that I was at a Colthurst reunion, I was probably the age of
Kelsey and Madison. The greatest part of our relationship is that
we have continued the tradition of bonding with each others family.
We've had a wonderful time when you have visited us in Long Beach
and we can't begin to thank you and your family for the incredible
hospitality that you have shown to us when we visit Napa. Our
picnics at Chateau Montelena and our lunches together in the Napa Valley
! were very memorable and enjoyable. You have so many things to be
proud of: Wonderful Children, and consequently wonderful
Grandchildren, along with a very rewarding profession. Your
incredible devotion to the church is also very admirable. It is
also wonderful to see you so close to Julie, Kelsey and Madison. We
love you Aunt Beverly and we wish you all the best on your 75th
birthday.
Love, Rick, Julie, Kelsey and Madison |

Dear Bev,
Since Bob sent his own
message, I wanted to tell you how much our
relationship has meant to me. You have always been there
for me and for my family. Whether it was
birthdays, baptisms, reunions--any special events--you
were and are always there. You have been a stabilizing force in
the whole family unit. I admire you for your wonderful relationship
with your own children and grandchildren. I also admire
your independent spirit, your faith, and the
inspiration that you give to all of us. Thank
you for being such a wonderful sister to me. We shall drink a toast
together.
Love you. Jerri |

Dear
Aunt Beverly--
I remember the wonderful
Thanksgiving dinners we had together at your
house. One of my favorite memories is that of
Uncle Ed falling asleep at the head of the table
after dinner. Thanksgiving has never been
the same since. We have such fond memories of
spending time with you and Ed and the kids. Thank
you for your generous hospitality and the loving
care you sent throughout the years...
love, Carol
